CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Council is still hashing out the details for digital parking meters.
Council revisited the topic during Thursday night’s committees’ meeting. The topic had originally been discussed in early November.
At that time council considered purchasing 15 digital parking meters. The meters cost $159 each and the cost to program the meters is $250.
Thursday night Terry Malloy of Park and Shop expressed Park and Shop’s desire to join in with the borough to purchase digital meters. Malloy said his group is looking to purchase about 100 meters. It was Malloy’s hope that the added number of meters purchased would reduce the price.
While the initial plan was to purchase 15 meters, the Public Safety Committee decided to hold off on making a recommendation to determine if additional meters could be purchased due to expected savings.
The committee also stuck with its recommended fee structure of .25/half-hour up to two hours in the downtown core.
