Republican House members met with Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus Tuesday on Capitol Hill where the party leader tried to assuage concerns sparked by presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s accusations the nominating process is “rigged.”
Lawmakers said that Priebus assured them the nominating rules could only be changed by a majority of the delegates in Cleveland and called the process fair.
Rep. Greg Walden of Oregon said that Priebus presented a slide show detailing the nominating rules from the party’s website. No questions were asked at the brief meeting, which several lawmakers called cordial.
