CLEARFIELD – Fifty-nine students from the ninth through twelfth grade entered 100 pieces of art, which were judged April 11 by Geri Beers, into the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School art show at the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, Clearfield.
Originally from Strattanville, she attended Edinboro University earning her degrees in art. She taught at Westfield Academy and Central School in New York for 22 years and retired in June of 2015.
Casen Zitzelberger’s piece “Old Truck in the Rocky Mountains” was awarded Best in Show. First place was “The Look” by Martina Westcott, second place was “Captain Jack” by Bina Carfley-Bickel, third place was “Grapes” by Emily Trimpey and fourth place was “Renew” by Whitney Maitre.
Jurors awards were given to Tiara Coudriet, Caleb Eisenhauer, Justina Gaylor, Katlyn Kirchner, Claire Mikesell, Paige Mikesell, Makayla Ross, Cheyanne Rowles, Ricky Ruiz, Jiami Zhu and Margaret Zitzelberger.
Honorable Mention awards were given to Chesney Boal, Lauren Butler, Becky Glenny, Emily Gmerek, Mackenzie Good, Mason Royer and Hannah Knepp.
Susquehanna River Art Center is especially thankful to art teachers Rose Nowak and Leann Adams for their encouragement of the students to enter this show and for their help in preparing the artwork for hanging and transporting the artwork to the library.
The show will be open for viewing during library hours through May 19. The public is invited to come and enjoy this art show featuring “very talented high school artists” from the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School.
Guests are encouraged to sign the guestbook and add comments. A reception will be held May 19 from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. with prizes being awarded at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be available.
