DUBOIS – A DuBois man will stand trial for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman and putting a gun to her head.
Jeremy Sedor, 39, 20 Clipper Ct., DuBois, was charged by Sandy Township police with terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, two counts of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment after an incident at his residence on March 22.
Following a preliminary hearing during centralized court on Friday, District Judge James Hawkins sent these charges on to the court of common pleas. Sedor’s bail was set at $25,000, unsecured.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police received a call from the victim at 3:24 a.m. reporting an assault by Sedor.
When an officer spoke with her at a location away from the home, he saw blood splattered on her face, chest, hands and clothing. Her nose was bleeding; she had red marks around her neck and her mouth and contusions on her left knee. There was also blood outside her vehicle. The victim explained to the officer that she is seven months pregnant.
She said the assault began after she confronted Sedor about having contact with his ex-girlfriend and he “flipped out.” He threw her down a hallway and then down some steps.
She tried to leave and was loading some belongings into her vehicle in the garage when he physically held her to keep her from leaving, according to the complaint. At one point he grabbed her by the throat and took her vehicle key from her. He then allegedly slammed her into the garage wall and threw her down onto the concrete as she tried to gather her things.
He went into the house and allegedly returned with a gun. He held it to his head, stating he was going to kill himself. She told police he then turned the gun on her, pointing it at her head stating he was going to kill her and then himself. As he was doing this, she was punching at his face in an attempt to get away.
Eventually she was able to get into the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Sedor then tried to rip her out of the vehicle and again grabbed her around the head, she said. While he was doing this, she bit him in the shoulder to try to get him to let her go. She told police Sedor tried to rip her out of the vehicle and punched her in the stomach.
Officers attempted to make contact with Sedor at the residence, but he fled the scene before they arrived. In the driveway, they found blood and pieces of a rain guard from the driver’s side window of a vehicle that had been ripped off.
