CLEARFIELD – Members of Clearfield Borough Council addressed a rumor presented to them during the public comment period of Thursday’s meeting.
Resident Joe Kane said that he’d heard a rumor that council member Larry Mack would be taking retiring Code Enforcement Officer Jim Kling’s job once Kling retired. Further, he said that he’d heard that Kling would then be appointed to Mack’s vacant Fourth Ward council seat.
Mack acknowledged that he has been job shadowing Kling on Wednesdays to get a better understanding of the job. He said that he felt it was in his best interest to apply for the position once it opens. Mack also said he will take himself off of the personnel committee.
Kane asked if he could shadow Kling on Wednesdays as well. He was informed that he would need to sign a waiver form.
Council President Jim Leitzinger said the position will be advertised once its open and that applications will be taken.
