It’s five seconds, but it’s disturbing.
A video released online shows a man in uniform slapping a younger individual three times — one slap loud enough to hear a pop — and then kicking him or her, all while yelling profanities.
The incident happened at a high school in Baltimore and involves a police officer, according to CNN affiliate WJZ.
The officer will not be in the building on Wednesday and the chief of Baltimore School Police has been placed on administrative leave, reported the station, which spoke to the person who filmed the video.
“I’m a parent, and I’m totally appalled at what I saw in that video,” Karl Perry, the chief school supports officer, told WJZ.
It’s not yet clear what happened before or after the video.
CNN affiliate WBAL reports that Baltimore City Police said the uniformed man in question was not a city police officer.
Some 43% of all U.S. public schools — including 63% of middle and 64% of high schools — had school resource officers on their grounds during the 2013-2014 school year, the National Center for Education Statistics noted in May.
