On Friday night, former Mexican President Vicente Fox compared GOP front-runner Donald Trump to Hitler, and the following day, Cher tweeted out a sentiment.
The music icon tweeted on her account to her almost 3 million followers, “THIS IS EARTH? SHATTERING???? LAST WEEK”HUGE”TURNOUT 4 REPUBLICANS…This week poor turnout 4 democrats…Outcome?? HEIL,MEIN FÃœHRER TRUMP”
There is one artist, however, that Trump has earned support from — musician Aaron Carter.
Trump tweeted Saturday, “I am self-funding my campaign and am therefore not controlled by the lobbyists and special interests like lightweight Rubio or Ted Cruz!”
Carter responded to the candidate, writing, “Does America want to have a president who FOLLOWS or someone who leads? I vote For @realdonaldtrump”.
Trump has not yet responded on Twitter or to a CNN request to either one of the pop stars’ comments.
In the past, Cher has been an active liberal voice on Twitter, critiquing presidential candidates. She takes to her account often to show her dislike for GOP White House hopefuls.
Last December, Cher tweeted at Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, comparing him to Judas Iscariot, writing, “As Judas Was 2 Jesus,So IsTed Cruz 2America.Read What He’s Written&Watched What He’s Said,4 Yrs.He ALWAYS TERRIFIED ME?#30piecesofsilver”
Her use of the hashtag #30piecesofsilver references the price that Judas was paid to betray Jesus in the New Testament of the Bible. She has since deleted the tweet.
Cruz responded to Cher, writing, “Cher, thanks for the kind sentiments. And I wish you a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.”
