JAY TOWNSHIP – A 29-year-old Benezette man, Matthew Domitrovich, was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday on Route 555 in Jay Township, reported state police at Ridgway.
According to the report, Domitrovich was traveling west and negotiating a slight, left curve in roadway. However, his vehicle traveled off the roadway onto an unimproved portion of the berm.
He was unable to regain control due to weather conditions at the time. His vehicle continued west, leaving the right side of the roadway and impacting a creek bank, state police said.
Domitrovich was pronounced dead at the scene by the Elk County Coroner. A passenger, Miranda Clark, 28, also of Benezette, sustained moderate injuries while three juveniles were uninjured, state police said.
Domitrovich wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. Clark was wearing her seatbelt and all three juveniles were in the appropriate child safety seats. The cause of the crash, according to state police, was driving too fast for conditions.
