Gerald B. Pyne Jr., 77, of DuBois died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016 at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
Born Nov. 24, 1938, he was the son of the late Gerald B. Pyne Sr. and Elizabeth A. (Catino) Pyne.
On Aug. 5, 1961, he married Sandra L. (Baronick) Pyne. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from S&T Bank after 38 years of service as a loan officer.
Mr. Pyne was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and baseball.
He was well-known and very active in the DuBois Little League. He, along with his good friend, Tom Frank were known as “Tom and Jerry” and managed for many years together winning state titles in Little League, Junior Little League and Senior Little League.
Most of all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. Michael J. Pyne and his wife, Candace and Thomas Pyne, both of DuBois; two sisters, Rosanne Ogorchock and her husband, James of Beacon Hills, Conn., and Kathleen DiNovo and her husband, Anthony of Houston, Texas; and six grandchildren, Michael, Anthony, Matthew, Kristen, Rebecca and Kaitlyn.
He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick G. Pyne and his brother, Timothy D. Pyne.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.
Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
