Frederick E. Mosley Sr., 76, of Houtzdale died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 at James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona.
Born Dec. 3, 1939 in Renova, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth Jeannette (Snyder) Mosley.
He retired the U.S. Marine Corps as a gunnery sergeant after 21 years of service. He worked as a corrections officer at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale and Rockview. He retired from Cen-Clear Child Services in 2013.
He was a member of American Legion Post 591 in Houtzdale, a life member of the VFW in Madera, a member of Moose Lodge 327 in Houtzdale, and a member of DAV.
He is survived by his loving wife Daisy (Root) Mosley; his two sons, Frederick E. (Maria) Mosley Jr. and James W. (Tina) Mosley, both of Houtzdale; two sisters, Harriet (Basil) Matthews of New York and Sarah Thompson of Ohio; and two brothers, William (Cil) Mosley of Glen Richey and James Mosley of Mount Joy.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Joshua (Amanda) Litzinger, Katrina Mosley, Destiny (Brad) Mosley, Brooke Mosley and Carley Mosley; three great-grandchildren, Tanisha, Jaxon and Audree; and numerous, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, April Lynn Mosley; a sister, Donna Mosley; and a brother, Daniel Mosley.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until services at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey.
