In a Facebook video Saturday morning Donald Trump thanked evangelicals for their support, sending a message of appreciation to a key Iowa voting bloc two days before the critical first-in-the-nation caucuses.
“I really appreciate the support given to me by the evangelicals. They’ve been incredible. Every poll says how well I’m doing with them,” the Republican front-runner said in the video entitled, “Trump: Christian Values.”
“I will never let you down,” he added.
The video features Trump displaying a Bible he says his mother gave him.
“It’s just very special to me,” he said.
Trump is leading among white evangelicals nationally, with 39% support, well ahead of Texas Ted. Cruz, who had 25%, and retired neurosurgeon Carson, who had 11%, according to a CNN/ORC poll released on Tuesday.
And earlier this week, Trump picked up the endorsement of Jerry Falwell Jr., the son of the influential evangelical leader, who is the president of Liberty University.
