Bernie Sanders and his top staff are looking to build on his momentum with a simple argument: The more Democratic voters get to know him, the more they will hop on board with him.
“What we’ve seen throughout this race is the more voters get to know Bernie Sanders, the more they come to him,” Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on “New Day” Tuesday.
Weaver said that Sanders started strong in New Hampshire because voters there knew him from his time in Vermont and now that they’ve poured resources into Iowa, they’re seeing results.
“As we’ve been out here in Iowa, as we’ve talked to voters, as the senator’s gotten around, as he’s put his message on paid television, voters here in Iowa have moved to him,” Weaver said.
Sanders made the same argument Monday, during a swing through the South, where he is hoping to cut into Hillary Clinton’s support among African American voters there.
Sanders is in Iowa for a series of stops throughout the day Tuesday.
