Carl N. “Hoss” “Gill” Moore, 76 of Clearfield died on March 20 at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1933 in Clearfield, a son of the late Howard and Cora (Gains) Moore.
Mr. Moore was employed as a boiler maker with Local #744 of Cleveland, Ohio and with Southern Power, serving as a trouble shooter on turbines.
He was a member of the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6, and the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post #1785. He served in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by four sons:
- Randy Moore and companion Ruth Parks of Clearfield
- Roger Moore and wife Wendy of DuBois
- Scott Moore and wife Pamela of Clearfield
- Mickey Moore and companion Tammy Updike of Clearfield;
Two step sons:
- Harry Michael Riddle of Clearfield
- Scott Allen Duff of TN;
Ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren;
Three brothers and three sisters:
Aaron ‘Bunch’ Moore and companion Betty of TX
Melvin Moore and wife Kay of FL
Emmett Moore and wife Diane of Winburne
Bernice ‘Louise’ Davis of Somerset
Maxine Cole of Karthaus
Hope Rowe of OH;
And numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Donna D. (Duff) Moore on Jan. 11, 2008, his daughter Susan Moore Gilliland, and two sisters and a brother Ethel Franks, Erma Kanouff and Kenneth ‘Buck’ Moore.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church, Clearfield on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at the church by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts honor guard.
