A mysterious string of jewel heists has a new wrinkle.
Last year, police were asking themselves if three robberies in three states were related.
The robberies — in Georgia, South Carolina and Florida — shared similarities. A woman walks into a jewelry store, pulls out a gun and forces employees into the back before fleeing with the valuables.
The questions at the time: Are the robberies connected? Were they carried out by the same person or was it a team? Or is a copycat at work?
This week, the FBI filled in a few of the blanks.
The same woman is suspected to have been involved in a total of six robberies of jewelry stores, the latest on January 4 in Mebane, North Carolina, the FBI said in a news release.
And she may not have been acting alone.
A second suspect, a large man in his late 30s or early 40s, is seen in surveillance video in four of the robberies, the FBI said.
The female suspect is wanted in connection to robberies in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee.
Both suspects are considered armed and dangerous, the FBI said.
