Richard Lee Bess, 73, of Glen Richey died Monday, Dec. 21, 2015 at Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital.
Born Sept. 7, 1942 in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of Harold Lee and Gertrude Marie (Deutsch) Bess.
Mr. Bess had been self-employed and owned Bess Locksmith and Small Engine Repair.
Prior to that, he had been employed by the former Superior Pet Products of Curwensville and the former Howe’s Leather of Curwensville.
He was a member of the Glen Richey Primitive Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
On March 31, 1978, he wed the former Sue Ann Snyder, who survives, along with his first wife, Jean E. Best of East Hampton, Mass.
He is also survived by two daughters, Elizabeth M. Bess and her companion, Thomas Theroux and Kathleen Truehart and her husband, Scott, both of East Hampton, Mass., and three grandchildren, Valarie Ann Bess and her companion, Joseph Koss, Joseph Zalucki and Nancy Truehart.
Also surviving are three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Thomas L. Snyder Sr., Joseph N. Snyder, Mary Elizabeth Carrillo and her husband, Earnest and Jack L. Snyder and his wife, Bonnie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Alfred and Dorothy (Prough) Snyder; his brothers-in-laws, Donald H. and Alfred E. Snyder; and sisters-in-law, Majore M. Young and Helen L. “Peg” Thomas.
At the request of Mr. Bess, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
