RIDGWAY – The Clearfield Area High School girls basketball team clinched a winning record with a 51-40 victory over Ridgway in its regular season finale Friday night.
Coach Joey Castagnolo\’s Lady Bisons, who have won eight of their last 10 games, will take a 12-10 log into their District 9 Class AAA semifinal home encounter with Punxsutawney on Feb. 24 or 25.
Junior Jayme Ryan was on target four times from three-point range to top the Lady Bisons with 12 points. Classmate Madison Sopic followed with 11 points.
A 15-for-18 showing at the foul line helped the Lady Bisons score in double figures every quarter and top their 44.5 per-game average. They were on top 28-15 at the half.
Emily Mitchell, who tossed in three treys, and Jordan Cowan paced the Lady Elkers (6-16) with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Ridgway won the junior varsity game.
