BROCKWAY – Both of the Clearfield Area High School teams will begin the District 9 Class AAA Playoffs with home games, according to pairings released by District 9 Basketball Committee chairman Jim Manners of Brockway Wednesday.
Coach Forrest Campman\’s Bisons, the District 9 League champions, are seeded No. 1 for the Feb. 24 semifinals, but the match-ups won\’t be settled until No. 2 seed St. Marys plays Bradford Tuesday.
Punxsutawney and Bradford also are in the hunt, but their seeds will depend on how Bradford fares against St. Marys Tuesday in the league finale.
Coach Joey Castagnolo\’s Lady Bisons earned the No. 2 seed with their third-place in the D-9 League and will host Punxsutawney either Feb. 24 or Feb. 25 in the lone semi-final, with No. 1 seed St. Marys receiving a bye.
The Class AAA title games are booked for Saturday, Feb. 28, in Clarion University\’s Tippin Gym, the girls at 1 p.m. and the boys at 3 p.m.
Brockway and Kane are the top two seeds in Class AA boys, while Clarion, Keystone, Cameron County and DuBois Central Christian are the top four seeds in Class A boys.
Top seeds for the girls are Cranberry and Kane in Class AA and Elk County Catholic, West Forest, Coudersport and Austin in Class A.
The Class AA and Class A tourneys get under way next week.
