Search crews in Utah found remains Thursday that are believed to be those of Michael Cavallari, the brother of reality TV star Kristin Cavallari.
The body was transported to the Office of the Utah Medical Examiner for identification and to determine the cause of death, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the “Laguna Beach” cast member confirmed her brother’s death.
“We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time. We have just been informed by the authorities my brother’s body has been found,” Kristin Cavallari said in a statement. “This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving.”
Kristin Cavallari mourned her brother Thursday with an Instagram picture of the two as children.
“My heart is in a million pieces. Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I’m at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP,” she wrote.
Law enforcement began looking for Michael Cavallari on November 27 after discovering his abandoned Honda Civic about five miles south of Exit 175 on Interstate 70. His remains were found nearby in a “steep and very rocky area” in the Salt Wash area.
Kristin Cavallari is married to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. She rose to fame as a cast member of reality shows “Laguna Beach” and its spinoff series, “The Hills.”
