Russell E. Martell, 66, of Morrisdale died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 in Allport. Born Aug. 14, 1949 in Lecontes Mills, he was the son of the late Florence Martell Stiner.
Mr. Martell was affiliate with the Protestant faith. He graduated from high school and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam era. Mr. Martell received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He was a member of the AMVETS in Philipsburg and the American Legion in Clearfield.
Mr. Martell is survived by a son, Michael Eugene Martell and his wife, Betty of Port Orange, Fla.; fiancée, Diane M. Bullock of Morrisdale; and a step-daughter, Kara Butler of Hawk Run.
He is also survived by a granddaughter, Angelica Martell of Port Orange, Fla.; three sisters, Susan Fletcher of Normalville, Shelly Daniels of Hyde and Teresa Erskin of Sharon; two brothers, Dennis Stiner of Maryland and Kenneth Stiner of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Duane, Cecil, Timothy and Thomas.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale, with Pastor Matt Mitchell officiating.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday and from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home Tuesday by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Family and friends are invited to the Clearfield VFW immediately following the services Tuesday.
