CURWENSVILLE – It was Holly Lansberry day once again and this time the victim was visiting Sheffield
The Curwensville Lady Tide pitcher threw back to back no-hitters Thursday afternoon in identical 15-0 wins over Sheffield. It was the third straight no-no in two days for Lansberry who has yet to give up an earned run all season in 77 innings of work. In 2009 the Lady Tide pitching sensation has thrown six no-hitters.
Although both games were called after three innings due to the 15 run mercy rule, Curwensville head coach Allen Leigey was happy they were in the books, “With all the bad weather we have had this season I am thankful we got these two in.”
As for Lansberry and his squad Leigey noted, “Holly is Holly. Always ready, just like her teammates. The entire team is focused and behind one another. They are really close.”
GAME 1
Curwensville picked up six runs in each of the first two innings and then added three in the bottom of the third to make quick work of the Lady Wolverines.
The victory has the Lady Tide in first place of the District 9 Northern Allegany Small School Division Southern Tier with a 10-0 mark.
In the first game the Lady Tide were fueled by Lansberry, Shannon McDonald, Jenessa Stiles and Sara Clark who all had two hits. Clark and Stacey Johnson had doubles for Curwensville. Stiles drove in three runs while Lansberry brought home two teammates.
The game was called after 2 and 1/3 innings as soon as the Lady Tide scored the 15th run invoking the 15 run mercy rule.

GAME 2
Curwensville ran it’s overall record to 15-0 with a second game slamming of Sheffield by the same 15-0 score.
This time, however, the Lady Tide didn’t start their offensive machine until the second inning as they were held scoreless in the first. Then the Tide came rolling in.
Curwensville picked up five runs in the second and went on to score 10 in the third inning without ever recording an out to once again bring the 15 run mercy rule into play.
Holly Lansberry picked her 15th straight win of the year without a defeat, another no-hitter, by facing nine Sheffield batters and striking all nine out.
Lansberry paced the Lady Tide with three hits while Jenessa Stiles and Stacey Johnson each had two.
Stiles had two doubles in the nightcap with teammate Erin Bressler driving in three.
Head coach of the Tide, Allen Leigey, spoke about one of his hitters, “I thought Jenessa (Stiles) was really on top of the ball with two well hit doubles in the second game.”
The Lady Tide return to action on Monday as they journey to Kane for a 4:15 pm contest in a D-9 Northern Allegany League game were they are now 11-0.
Sheffield is now 0-14 overall and 0-11 in the D-9 Northern Allegany league.
NOTE: Lady Tide catcher Ashley Demchak had two RBI’s in the doubleheader pushing her career total to 102.
