REYNOLDSVILLE – Derek Danver drove in six runs with a single, double and home run to front an 18-hit attack as Clearfield American Legion Post 6 rolled to a 22-4 Jefferson County League win over Reynoldsville Monday evening.
Manager Sid Lansberry\’s Chiefs solidified their grip on third place at 5-3 and upped their overall record to 6-9.
They scored in every inning and closed with a 10-run outburst in the sixth, prompting the game to be halted because of the JCL\’s 12-Run Mercy Rule.
Aaron Sayers and winning pitcher Corey Bookhamer had three hits apiece, while Justin Hoffman, Trevor Flanagan and Tyler Jacobson chipped in with two apiece for Clearfield, which has piled up 33 hits and 37 runs in two appearances on the cellar-dwellers\’ diamond.
Sayers, who doubled, knocked in three runs. Bookhamer, Flanagan and Jacobson each had two RBIs.
Bookhamer went five innings for his third win in four decisions, giving up six hits and two walks while striking out six. Two of the four runs he allowed were unearned.
Sayers pitched the sixth inning with two strikeouts and one walk.
Danver had a two-run double in the fourth inning, a two-run homer in the fifth and a two-run single in the sixth.
The Chiefs parlayed six hits, including a pair of run-scoring singles by Jacobson, with three walks and three Reynoldsville errors into their big inning.
Matt Sliwinski led the hosts with a two-run homer and a double.
Clearfield will be at home Tuesday against DuBois in a make-up game and Wednesday against Curwensville.
