NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Westminster junior forward Danielle Struble of Lumber City was named Presidents\’ Athletic Conference women\’s soccer offensive player of the week after scoring the winning goal against Shenandoah at Harold Burry Stadium Friday night and assisting on the game-winner at Pitt-Johnstown Saturday afternoon.

Also on Monday, the Curwensville Area High School graduate was honored as Titan Athlete of the Week by the Westminster College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Both of the wins that boosted the Lady Titans\’ record to 3-2 went into overtime.
Struble unleashed a 20-yard shot, her team-high 12th of the game and the seventh of Westminster\’s 21 shots on goal, to beat Shenandoah 3-2. The on-target shot at the 108:19 mark produced her first points of the season.
The Lady Titans didn\’t have to go into the second overtime period against UPJ, as Sarah Nee sent Struble\’s crossing pass into the net at the 95:11 mark.
Struble accounted for six of Westminster\’s 15 shots and four of the eight shots on goal.
She leads the team in shots (23) and shots on goal (11).

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Juliana Howell of Clearfield scored the only goal in the 89th minute to give Slippery Rock a 1-0 win over Clarion in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action at Egli Field Saturday afternoon.
The junior forward headed Shelby Ward\’s crossing pass just inside the near post with 1:11 left in regulation.
All three of Howell\’s shots were on goal, with the game-winner her first goal of the season and the seventh of her career.
Howell has five shots, all on goal, for The Rock, which played to a 1-1, double overtime tie at Edinboro on Sept. 8 and now is fourth at 2-1-1 in the PSAC-West and 3-1-1 overall.

DUBOIS, Pa. – Curwensville Area High School graduate Jilissa Keller of Grampian registered one goal and one assist in three games for Penn State-DuBois last week.
With only 11 players on the roster in the program\’s first season, Keller and her teammates are forced to play 90 minutes every game.
Keller booted the Lady Lions\’ first goal in Saturday\’s 5-4 loss to Penn College of Williamsport and then assisted leading scorer Jacey Royer of Reynoldsville in Sunday\’s 10-1 loss at Ursuline (Ohio).
The three points were the first for the Lady Lion freshman midfielder.
Penn State-DuBois topped the Westminster junior varsity 4-3 in overtime on Thursday for its lone win in five games. Amanda Malacarne of Ridgway scored two goals, including the game-winner, while Royer and Jill Curley of Reynoldsville tallied the other two.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior midfielder Jen Williams of Clearfield got her fourth start in Lock Haven\’s 7-0 defeat at Indiana on Sept. 8 and subbed in a 3-1 loss to Gannon on Saturday.
Both were Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference games, leaving the Lady Eagles 0-4 in the West Division and 1-4 for the season.
Williams has scored three goals the Lady Eagles\’ victory in their season opener.

READING, Pa. – Former Clearfield Area High School standout athlete Tanner Kelly of Olanta passed for 235 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 81 yards and one score as Albright sent 1,671 Shirk Stadium fans home happy by blitzing Western Connecticut State 48-7 Saturday night.
One of Kelly\’s TD aerials was a 93-yarder hook-up with Scott Pillar that ranks as the second longest scoring pass in Lions history.
The redshirt junior, who completed 14 of 21 passes, put Albright\’s first points on the board with an 11-yarder to fullback Tyrone Drumgo with 7:14 left in the first quarter.
Two minutes later, on third down-and-19, Kelly rambled 56 yards for the sixth rushing TD of his four-year career.
Though sacked four times for 20 yards in losses, he finished with 64 nets yards for eight carries.
The 6-3, 215-pounder leads the Middle Atlantic Conference in passing yards (477) and touchdowns(4), completion percentage (69.4) and passing efficiency (217.4.). He has 25 completions and no interceptions in 36 passes.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – For the third consecutive game, Nick Sipes of Curwensville led Clarion in tackles Saturday night, but the Golden Eagles couldn\’t slow down the Warriors and lost 45-31.
The junior, who has been shifted from strong safety to linebacker, had five solo tackles and four assists in the Pennsylvania State College Athletic Conference \”crossover\” game that attracted 2,057 fans to Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Sipes recorded one sack for a loss of five yards and also forced one fumble.
In addition, he handled the kickoff chores, averaging 45.7 yards for six opportunities.
Free safety Shawn Sopic of Curwensville logged two solo stops and one assist for the 1-2 Golden Eagles.
Sipes now ranks among PSAC defenders with 31 tackles and a 10.3 average, is tied for second with 20 solo stops and is tied for third in sacks with three.
Sopic\’s season totals show 17 tackles, including 10 solo efforts.

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – With starting free safety Jordan Baird sidelined by an injury, senior Beau Ryan of Clearfield stepped in and responded with four solo tackles and two assists in Juniata\’s 43-13 loss in front of 850 fans at Knox Stadium Saturday.
After being moved from running back to defensive back, freshman Isiah Morgan of Clearfield saw his first varsity action and teamed with Ryan for a tackle on a kickoff return after the Eagles scored with 8:11 remaining.
Senior defensive end Devin Yastro of Olanta (Clearfield Area H.S.) also played for the Eagles, who are 0-2.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Redshirt sophomore quarterback Andrew Janocko of Clearfield was on the University of Buffalo Stadium turf eight times to hold for extra point attempts as Pitt rolled past the Bulls 54-27 before a crowd of 21,870 Saturday.
Dan Hutchins converted six PAT kicks in the Panthers\’ second win.

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Redshirt junior offensive lineman J.D. Skebo of Curwensville played on the Slippery Rock punting and field goal units in Saturday\’s 27-24 win over host Kutztown in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference \”crossover\” game at University Field.
The Rock will take a 3-0 record into the PSAC West Division portion of its schedule.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Junior wingback Tyler Kirkwood of Frenchville (Clearfield Area H.S.) saw action for Grove City in another high-scoring setback Saturday.
Carnegie Mellon outlasted the visiting Wolverines 45-40 with 2,433 fans looking on at Gesling Stadium.
Grove City is 0-2 even though the offense has piled up 87 points.

MEN\’S SOCCER
WASHINGTON, Pa. – John Lohta of Clearfield earned his first point of the season as Washington & Jefferson ended a busy week with two wins and a loss.
The junior midfielder was credited with an assist on the Presidents\’ first goal in Tuesday\’s 6-0 shutout against Point Park. Mike Pappas converted the crossing pass for the game-winning goal in the 31st minute.
On Saturday, W & J nipped Randolph (Va.) 4-3 in overtime in the first round of the Lynchburg (Va.) Tournament. The hosts edged W & J 2-1 on Sunday.
Lohta, who had two shots against Randolph, has started every game for the 2-3 Presidents.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Mark Auman of Clearfield had one shot in both of Lock Haven\’s games last week, a 1-0 overtime win at Davis & Elkins (W.Va.) on Wednesday and a 3-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory over on Saturday.
A junior midfielder, Auman has one assist for the 2-2-1 Bald Eagles, who are 1-2 in the PSAC West Division.

He has one assist and two shots in four games for the 3-2 Titans.
