BROOKVILLE – The Clearfield American Legion Post No. 6 baseball team\’s Jefferson County League game against Laurel Eye Clinic of Brookville Tuesday evening was suspended in the top of the second inning because of rain.
The game will be completed when the Chiefs return to McKinley Field on July 1.
Play will be picked up with the Chiefs, ahead 1-0, batting with the bases loaded and no outs.
That 6 p.m. start will be followed by the regularly-scheduled game at approximately 8 o\’clock.
Clearfield manager Sid Lansberry announced two changes for upcoming games.
The Chiefs, 3-2 in the JCL and 3-3 overall, will host DuBois Saturday at 1:30 p.m. instead of 5 o\’clock and will travel to Hepburnia to take on the Curwensville Haymakers on Friday, June 13, in a 6 p.m. game originally scheduled for Thursday, June 12.
Lansberry also announced Clearfield will be one of the Bellefonte Showdown XXVI 19-and-Under Division host teams June 20 and 21, with games to be played on the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field.
The Mid-Atlantic Wooden Bat Summer Showcase tournament has 33 entries.
The Chiefs will play the Falls Legion (Post No. 834) at 12:30 p.m. and the FSK Legion (Frederick, Md., Post No. 11) at 5:30 on the first day, Friday, and the Kiski Baseball Club at 12:30 and Laurel Legion (Laurel, Md., Post No. 60) at 5:30 on Saturday.
The visiting teams will meet in 3 o\’clock games both days.
Last year, Falls was 28-12 and Lower Bucks County League runner-up, FSK was 38-11 and Western Maryland League champion and state runner-up, Kiski was 24-10-1 and fourth in the Quad County North Palomino League and Laurel was 21-11 and Maryland State League Montgomery Division regular season champion.
