CURWENSVILLE – Jaden McDermott pitched no-hit ball into the sixth inning against Tri-County as the Curwensville Little League 9-and-10 All-Stars won their second District 5 Northern Tier Tournament elimination game at William Beyer Memorial Field Saturday evening.
Shae Bloom relieved and earned the save in the 3-2 nail-biter after giving up an unearned run and then getting the final out on a comebacker with two Tri-County runners on base.
A walk, an error and Tanner Adams\’ single produced Tri-County\’s run.
McDermott had to exit because of the Little League pitch count after beginning the bottom of the sixth with his fifth strikeout. He walked five and allowed one run.
Bloom walked and was pushed around the bases by three walks in the first inning.
Another trio of walks and two Tri-County miscues put the winners in front 3-1 in the fifth.
Curwensville had only two hits, one a double by McDermott.
On Monday, Curwensville (2-1) gets a rematch with Philipsburg-Osceola (2-1) in the elimination bracket final at Philipsburg.
P-O (2-1), which lost 10-1 to Four-Leaf Clover in the winner\’s bracket final Saturday evening, edged Curwensville 7-6 in the semifinals last Tuesday.
Four-Leaf Clover (3-0) will host the Northern Tier championship game Wednesday at 6 p.m.
