CURWENSVILLE – In a match-up of Allegany Mountain League teams, the Curwensville Golden Tide will close out their home schedule as they play host to the Elk County Catholic Crusaders.
Elk County Catholic is on a five-game winning streak, most recently coming off of a 30-26 victory over Brockway. The Crusaders had to hold off two late-game drives by the Rovers to preserve the victory. Expect to see a lot of ground and pound football from running backs Kyle Gerber and Josh Catalano, who have combined for 559 yards and three touchdowns through six games.
Curwensville is looking to keep their momentum going following their 47-6 thrashing of Ridgway. The player to look out for in this game should be Jesse Hoover. The Tide\’s leading receiver has accounted for six touchdowns and averages nearly 17 yards per catch. However, last week it was his return ability as he ran back both a punt and a kickoff for scores against the Elkers. The running game has also been big, particularly that of Jed Greslick, who averages 5.5 yards per carry and has four touchdowns on the season.
Riverside Stadium plays host to the Golden Tide\’s final home game this season, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
