Even though it rained all day, the rain stayed away from the game Friday night.
The Bisons were coming into this game with a 4-3 record and the Dutch coming into the game with a 5-2 slate.
The Dutch kicked off to the Bisons to start the game.
In their opening drive the Bisons Jarrin Campman handed the ball off to Toby Young a couple of times for short gains, and to Drew Hipps for a loss of yardage and the Bisons had to give the ball to the Dutch.
On the Dutch\’s first play from scrimmage, James Swanson handed off to Todd Schatz for a 54 yard TD scamper with Andy Eck kicking the extra point to give the Dutch a 7-0 lead at 8:47 left in the first quarter.
The Bisons offense led by J. Campman took their next possession, but it led to a turnover on downs.
The Bisons defense, after giving up the TD, started to stiffen up.
On the Bisons third possession of the 1st quarter J. Campman was having a hard time hooking up with his receivers. After a pass interference call against the Dutch gave the Bisons a 1st down, J. Campman fumbled the ball and Dutchman Sean Sadosky fell on it to give the Dutch the ball back.
The Bisons defense had tackles by Lee Zalno, Rich Queen, Josh Rippey, Derek Morgan, and Hipps for either small gains or losses on the next possession for the Dutch. The Dutch also had a couple of penalties that held them back.
At the end of the 1st quarter the score remained 7-0 Dutch.
After the Dutch had to punt early in the 2nd quarter, the Bisons put on a scoring drive.
J.Campman handed off to Young for -1 yard. Then J. Campman passed the ball to Todd Hryn for 9 yard gain. J. Campman on a keeper picked up the 1st down to keep the drive alive. J.Campman handed off to Young and had a keeper for little or no gain. On 3rd and 9 J. Campman scrambled and found David Ryan for huge gain, but it was called back due to a holding penalty.
The penalty didn\’t keep the Bisons down, instead J. Campman completed passes to Hipps and Ryan to give them a 1st down at the Dutch 20 yard line. After completing a pass to Ryan that gave the Bisons a 1st and goal, J. Campman had passes to Hipps and Hryn that were incomplete, and Young ran the ball for no gain.
On 4th and goal J. Campman on a keeper ran it in for the score. After Parker Harrington kicked the extra point it made the score 7-7 with 6:10 left in the 2nd quarter.
The next possession for the Dutch saw Swanson hand off to Brian Tamburlin for a short gain, and Jeremy Williams for no gain. The Bisons had an offside penalty which helped the Dutch. The very next play Swanson handed off to Williams for a 66 yard TD run, but the Eck kick was no good. At 4:01 left in the 2nd quarter the Dutch were ahead of the Bisons 13-7.
On the 2nd possession of the 2nd quarter for the Bisons, J. Campman on a run for 9 yards on 1st down. Then on 2nd down J. Campman passed to Hipps for a 1st down. J. Campman handed off to Young for a 9 yard scamper, and then had a pass knocked down by Aaron Gies of the Dutch.
On 3rd and 1 J. Campman ran the ball for a 1st down. After a pass to Trey Campman for a 1st down that put them well in to Dutch territory, J. Campman ran the ball twice for a 1st down. He pitched the ball to Young for a short gain and then ran the ball to the 5 yard line of the Dutch.
At the 5 yard line J. Campman again ran the ball into the end zone for the Bisons 2nd score of the night and with Harrington\’s kick it made the score 14-13 in favor of the Bisons with 42 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. That is what the score was at half time.
At the start of the 3rd quarter the Bisons defense came to life. With tackles by Rippey, and Nick Redden they forced the Dutch to punt.
The Bisons started on their own 36 yard line. J. Campman ran the ball for an 8 yard gain, then with 2nd and 2 threw a touch pass to Hipps for a 57 yard TD strike. With Harrington\’s kick being good it made the score 21-13 for the Bisons with 9:10 left in the 3rd quarter.
Then the Bison defense stopped the Dutch again with tackles from Rippey, Redden, Queen, and Panebianco. Then the Dutch had an illegal procedure penalty. Swanson tried to hand the ball off, but Brandon Sass and Hipps were there to stop the run. Rippey tackled Tamburlin to force another Dutch punt.
This time the Bisons were forced to punt by the Dutch defense and when Hipps punted the ball it was partially blocked by Shane Krise and recovered by the Dutch at the Bisons 45 yard line.
The Bisons defense wasn\’t going to lie down. They instead had a tackle by Zalno, then Swanson had his pass picked off by Hipps which gave the Bisons good field position.
The Bisons offense stalled and was forced to punt again. This time the Hipps punt went to the Dutch 8 yard line.
After Justin Karp stuffed Williams, Swanson handed off and the Dutch fumbled the ball and J. Campman fell on it for another Bison TD. The Harrington kick was good and that put the Bisons up 28-13 with 1:58 left in the 3rd quarter.
The Dutch offense was having trouble holding on to the ball. Swanson handed off to Schatz and he fumbled the ball. It was covered by the Bisons D. Morgan. The end of the 3rd quarter was Bisons 28-13.
The 4th quarter was scoreless for both teams. The Bisons tightened up their defense, and the offense ran off the clock to preserve the victory.
In the end it was the Bisons victorious over the Dutch 28-13. The Bisons are now 5-3 and the Dutch are also 5-3
The Bisons next game is Senior night at the Bisons Sports Complex next Friday against Huntingdon.
