Hyde — The Indian Valley Warriors rolled into Clearfield with an undefeated 9th Grade team; they narrowly escaped with their perfect record intact.
Down 7-0 entering the 4th quarter, thanks to a Luke Bell first half touchdown run, the Warriors made just enough big plays to win.
First their quarterback broke some would be tackles at the line of scrimmage, then sprinted 60 yards to paydirt to cut the Bison lead to 7-6. Indian Valley then lined up for the tying extra point. Instead the fake was on and the holder hit a wide open receiver for 2 points. A great call by the IV coaching staff.
Clearfield wasn\’t about to give up. Trey Campman led the Bisons to a 13-8 lead after capping a drive with a 2 yard TD plunge. The try for 2 fell short.
Also an undefeated team doesn\’t give up either. Indian Valley took 2 shots at the long bomb, connecting on the second one for a 14-13 lead. the 2 point conversion set the score at 16-13.
That was the final. Clearfield did have one final shot, but was intercepted deep in Warrior territory with less than a minute left to play.
IV also won the 8th grade game. That final was 21-7. Jordan Voss scored on a late run.
Clearfield (3-2) will host their final home game Thursday October 5th at 7:00 PM against D9 rival Punxsutawney Chucks. The 8th grade will play at 5:00 PM.
