HOUTZDALE—-The Curwensville Lady Tide went to their two senior leaders to knock off the Moshannon Valley Damsels Tuesday night 41-32. Dani Struble tossed in a quiet 20 while teammate Jackie White dropped in 13.
The Lady Tide led by as many as ten early in the second quarter only to see the Damsels cut it to four half way through the period. Curwensville then took control again right before the break to go into the locker room with a eight point advantage, 23-15
Outscoring MoValley 10-5 in the third, the Tide basically put the game away with a 13 point lead as the quarter ended. Struble and White scored of all the points in the opening quarter of the second half. Struble scored 6 and White 4. Meanwhile senior Amy Tomasko scored all 5 for the Damsels in the third as Mo Valley dropped to 5-14 on the season.
Head coach Tom Tomasko’s team was fueled by Tomasko’s 19 as the senior guard hit 4 threes to keep the Damsels somewhat in the game during the first half.
The Lady Tide, under coach Vic Gearhart, are now 12-3 on the season and have won 11 of their past 13. It was also the seventh straight win for Curwensville who now host Kane on Thursday night at Patton Hall.
Tuesday nights win also keeps the Lady Tide perfect in the Moshannon Valley league at 6-0 .
There was no junior varsity contest.
