COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Freshman 141-pounder Matt Kyler of Clearfield was one of four Army wrestlers to win individual titles at the 13th Annual All-Academy Championships Saturday in the Air Force Academy\’s Cadet East Gym.
Kyler advanced to the finals with a pair of major decisions, 11-1 over Coast Guard\’s Garrett Feldman and 12-1 over The Citadel\’s Matt Bulwinkle, and then edged Navy\’s Nick Canterbury 8-6 to give the Cadets a sweep of the first three weights.
Canterbury (25-16) had won two bouts via falls.
Fernando Martinez (125), William Simpson (133) and Brian Rowan (165) also won titles for the Cadets, who finished runners-up to Navy, which claimed the championship for the fourth year in a row with 124.5 points. Army wound up with 96.5.
Kyler, who was the top seed, leads Army in major decisions with 10 and wins with 28 in 35 matches.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — John Lytle, a freshman from Clearfield, helped the 17th-ranked Notre Dame men\’s swimming and diving team wrap up a successful dual meet season at 11-3 with a 147-94 Big East victory over Louisville Saturday afternoon.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Lytle staked the Irish to a .76 lead with a 45.46 split that was the fastest of the race, and his teammates expanded that edge to win by 1.9 seconds in 3:04.81.
Lytle just missed first place in the 50 free. His time was 21.26, while winner Chris Lindauer of Louisville stopped the clock at 21:25.
Lytle also anchored the 400 medley relay foursome that finished second in 3:23.49.
Notre Dame will be seeking its third consecutive title in the 2007 Big East Championships Feb. 14-17 in the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Freshman Cassie Mulhollem of Clearfield anchored the winning 400-yard medley relay team and added a second in the 100 freestyle race as the Franklin & Marshall College women\’s swimming team knocked off an undefeated Centennial Conference opponent for the second straight Saturday.
The Diplomats gained a share of the conference dual meet title with their 108.5-96.5 victory over visiting Gettysburg.
F & M (8-2-1) and Gettysburg (7-2) completed their conference schedules with 6-1 records, while Swarthmore (6-3) can make it a three-way tie by beating Washington on Wednesday.
Mulhollem was handed a lead in the relay and swam a 55.16 split to cap the win in 4:04.20, just 1.58 seconds ahead of the Bullets\’ foursome. She turned in a 56.20 in the 100 free and also placed sixth in the 200 free.
F & M will host the Centennial Conference Championships Feb. 16-18.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Two seniors from Clearfield ended their dual meet careers as the Clarion University women\’s swimming team lost its season finale 200-88 to Pitt at Trees Pool Saturday to finish 8-5.
Stacy Ogden swam the leadoff leg for the Golden Eagle \’B\’ 200-yard medley relay quartet that placed third, the second leg for the \’A\’ foursome that placed fourth and added a fourth in the 50 free.
Kaymee Kelly finished sixth in the 100 and 200 backstroke races and led off for the \’B\’ 400 free relay team that placed sixth.
Clarion\’s next action will be the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 22-25 at Cumberland Valley High School.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Ruth Williamson, former of Clearfield, continued her climb up the Susquehanna University women\’s basketball all-time scoring ladder by scoring 13 points in a 76-62 Commonwealth Conference loss to homestanding Moravian College Saturday afternoon.
The junior guard from Gettysburg connected on all three of her three-point attempts and also was perfect at the foul line with four free throws to overtake Lyn Jones (569 points, 1980-82) for 23rd place on the Crusader list. Williamson has 573 points, including 149 for a 7.1 average this season.
She also had two offensive rebounds, two assists, two steals and one blocked shot for the Crusaders, who slipped to 4-6 in the conference and 13-8 overall. Her third trey cut Susquehanna\’s deficit to 50-46 with 9:21 remaining, but Moravian (11-10, 5-5) pulled away on red-hot foul shooting. The winners made 19 free throws in a row in the second half and finished 20-for-22.
