Reynoldsville —Brian McKinney of Sewickley made his first trip to Hummingbird Speedway a successful one as he picked up the win in the pure stock class.
Other winners Saturday evening included Luke Hoffner of Turbotville, Bob Rosman of Sykesville, Bob Ralston, Jr. of Philipsburg, and Dustin Fields of Brockport.
The 15-lap IC Light Beer four-cylinder feature was first on the track with Adam Nixon and Bobby Battaglia leading the way. Nixon got the early jump on the field, and held the lead through two early caution periods. Ralston worked the outside of Nixon, and made the pass for the lead on lap 6. Ralston continued to lead a the midway point with Nixon, Don Henry, Orin Taylor, and Alan Barnett keeping things close. Ralston started to pull away from the field when the caution flag flew on lap 11. Ralston got a good restart with Henry and Taylor battling side by side for second. Henry closed on Ralston in the late stages of the race, but Ralston was able to hold him off as he took his third win of the year. Barnett, Henry, and George Bailey won the heats.
Frank McVay and Rosman led the field of Prontock Beer Distributors street stocks trackside for their 20-lap main event. McVay took the early lead with the field running single file and close behind him. During a lap 4 caution period, McVay had to pit with a flat tire, giving the lead over to Joe Kot. Kot continued to hold the lead through the midway point with Rosman, Dan Smeal, Fuzzy Fields, and Gary Little keeping things close. Rosman looked to have the lead a number of times, but caution flags gave the lead back to Kot. Finally, on lap 15, Rosman worked his way under Kot for the lead on lap 15, and never looked back as he scored his second win of the year. Fields and Bill Huntington won the heats.
Levi Ardery and Rich Womeldorf made up the starting front row of the 25-lap Brookville Wood Products limited late model feature. Ardery got the early lead in the race with Hoffner keeping the pressure on. Hoffner slid under Ardery, and took over the lead on lap 4. Hoffner pulled away from the field, and was starting to lap cars when a caution flew on lap 11. Hoffner held the lead at the halfway mark with Eric Moore, Tim Fedder, Ardery, and Billy Dickson trying to close the gap. Hoffner was too strong for the field as he went on to take his fifth win at the speedway this season. Hoffner, Womeldorf, and Ardery won the preliminaries.
The 15-lap Miller Brothers Furniture/By The Room Furniture pure stocks feature was next on the racing surface with Steve Barnes and Jason Murray leading the way. Murray led the first circuit, but was overtaken by McKinney on the next lap. McKinney continued to lead at the halfway point with Pete Mackie, Murray, Kyle Lindenmuth, and Jason Bainey rounding out the top five. After a lap 10 caution, McKinney, Mackie and Bainey pulled away from the field. McKinney had what it took though as he went on to capture the checkered flag. Bainey and Lindenmuth won the heats. Brian Crawford and Fields started on the front row of the 12-lap front wheel drive four-cylinder main. After a complete restart, Fields grabbed the lead with Terry Borden and Aaron Luzier battling side by side for second. The field was still tightly bunched at the midway point with Fields continuing to lead. Dave Kohler tried to get by Fields on the outside a number of times, but couldn’t make the pass for the lead. The pair came out of turn four for the checkered flag with Fields crowding Kohler high to the fence. Fields was able to hold on for the win while Kohler held on for second over Todd English. English, Jerry Walls, Ben Smith, and Henry Himes won the heat while Steven Bouch won the consy.
