Beverly Jean Matson, 63, of Gearhartville, RD Philipsburg, was called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015 while on a family trip to visit Rehoboth Beach, Del.
Born Dec. 14, 1951 in Clearfield, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Helen (Miller) Homman. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.
She was a member of the Bigler United Methodist Church. She was a 1969 graduate of the Clearfield Area High School. She worked with life skills students as a teacher’s aide for the Central Intermediate Unit No. 10 for 33 years.
She lived life to the fullest. She loved traveling, especially to Presque Isle in Erie and Rehoboth Beach. She loved gardening, taking daily walks, cooking, dancing, caring for her dog, “Peanut” and most importantly, spending time with her family.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a blessing to all whom met her. She always put others first, and her beautiful smile will never be forgotten.
She married James Matson on June 4, 1977, who survives at home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Jamie Matson and his companion, Vickie Price; Joe Matson and his wife, Kris; and Scott Matson and his wife, Nikki, all of Philipsburg.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Ashley Matson of Sandy Ridge and Caleb, Parker, Chloe and Sophia Matson, all of Philipsburg. Also surviving are three sisters, Wilda “Sis” Williams of Morrisdale, Jan Dunlap and her husband, Dave of Philipsburg and Deb Stiner and her husband, Gary of Lanse; and two brothers, Wilford Homman and his wife, Mary of Morrisdale and Don Homman and his wife, Donna of Bigler.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leon and Harold Homman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with Pastor Kathy Leigey, officiating. Burial will follow at the Bigler Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
