CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Benjamin Colyer, 20, of Lilly Street, Philipsburg. Colyer was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Aug. 10.
On May 25, Patrolman Adam Raybuck of the Clearfield Borough Police Department filed a criminal complaint. He charged Colyer with theft by unlawful taking, M2; theft by deception, M2; and receiving stolen property, M2.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on April 25 police received a complaint that someone had allegedly stolen 15 video games from the victim. Upon investigation police allegedly determined that Colyer had removed the video games from the victim’s home. In addition, Colyer later allegedly sold the video games to a local business.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 8, at which time Colyer failed to appear, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that Colyer was apprehended Saturday by troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield barracks. Colyer is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw thanked the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, for their assistance with this case.
