OREM, Utah — Grand Junction reliever Chad Zurat of Clearfield surrendered three runs to the Orem Owlz in the fifth inning of a 12-4 Pioneer Rookie League South Division loss in front of a Brent Brown Ballpark crowd of 2,316 Friday night.
With the Rockies trailing 5-4, the right-hander inherited one runner and gave up four hits, including a two-run home run, before retiring the side.
The rough outing lowered his earned run average to 4.86 for 33.1 innings over 12 appearances, five of them starts in the first half.
Zurat (2-3) has logged 11 strikeouts, 11 walks and three hit batsmen while allowing 46 hits and 25 runs, 18 earned.
Home losses to Orem 9-4 Saturday night and 5-4 Sunday afternoon dropped Grand Junction to 2-4 in the second half and 22-22 overall going into the three-day break for the Pioneer League vs. Northwest Class A Short-Season League All-Star Game.
