Health issues resulting from a 2012 heatlh scare are resolved and Hillary Clinton is physically fit to serve as president, according to her personal physician.
The health declaration came with a wave of late Friday disclosures, including years of previously unreleased tax returns and a separate State Department release of emails from Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State.
“Mrs. Clinton is a healthy 67-year old female whose current medical conditions include hypothyroidiam and seasonal pollen allergies,” writes Dr. Lisa Bardack, Clinton’s doctor since 2001, in a Health Statement provided by Clinton’s campaign.
The health statement says the blood clot, also known as a thrombosis, that Clinton suffered between her brain and skull following a fainting spell and concussion in late 2012 is completely resolved.
“She had follow-up testing in 2013, which revealed complete resolution of the effects of the concussion as well as total dissolution of the thrombosis. Mrs. Clinton also tested negative for all clotting disorders,” Bardack writes.
But as a precaution, Clinton remains on daily blood thinners, something her husband previously revealed. Clinton takes Coumadin, the brand name for the blood thinner warfarin. She also takes Armour Thyroid for her hypothyroidism, antihistamines and Vitamin B12.
Clinton has no known drug allergies, does not smoke, use tobacco products or illicit drugs and drinks occasionally, according to Bardack, who also details her exercise regime: yoga, swimming, walking and weight training.
Clinton is up to date on health tests, including a colonoscopy and a few other tests not often seen in a presidential candidate’s health disclosure: gynecologic exam, mammogram and breast ultrasound.
She received her most recent physical exam on March 21, 2015, according to the the statement. Her blood pressure was 100/65. Her heart rate was 72 and her EKG was normal. Her total cholesterol was 195, with an LDL (“bad cholesterol”) of 118, and an HDL (“good cholesterol”) of 64 and triglycerides of 69.
“She is in excellent physical condition and fit to serve as President of the United States,” Bardack’s letter concludes.
Campaign to release new tax returns too
This afternoon the campaign will also post the eight years of Clinton tax returns that are not already public.
Clinton campaign officials say they are posting her tax returns from 2007 to 2014. Clinton tax returns from 1992 to 2006 are already online due to the Clintons years in the White House and Hillary Clinton’s time in the Senate.
With this release, the campaign says 38 years of Clinton tax returns have been available to the press over the course of her career. This number dates back to 1977. Not all of the tax returns are currently online, but the official said the tax forms were made available during the Clinton’s first run at elected office.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush released 33 years of tax returns last month.
In addition to the taxes, Clinton’s campaign will post the itemized income for each speech Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton gave in 2013.
The couple released their 2014 personal financial disclosure form earlier this year, which details that Hillary and Bill Clinton have made more than $30 million since January 2014, largely from paid speeches.
Also this afternoon, the campaign will release itemized details about the money the Clintons made from consulting since Hillary Clinton left the State Department.
