CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Robert Selfridge, 35, of Main Street, Falls Creek. Selfridge was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on July 20.
On Feb. 23, Sergeant Kris Kruzelak of the Sandy Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint against Selfridge. He charged Selfridge with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, F; person not to possess firearms, F2; firearms not to be carried without a license, F3; possession of a controlled substance, M; possession of a small amount of marijuana, M; and possession of drug paraphernalia, M.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Feb. 19, Sandy Township police were dispatched to a local hotel for an activated fire alarm. Upon arrival at the hotel, officers were advised that smoke and an odor of marijuana were coming from a room, which activated the alarm.
Officers were further advised that a male, later identified as Selfridge, remained in the room. He had allegedly put unknown items into two bags and took them to his car.
After obtaining a search warrant for the car, officers allegedly located three handguns, drug paraphernalia and various controlled substances, including methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and prescription pills.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Feb. 27, at which time all charges were held for court. On July 16, Selfridge failed to appear for a Pre-trial Conference, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that on Wednesday members of the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force received information that Selfridge was allegedly hiding in a motel located in Plum, Allegheny County.
Marshals staked out the motel where they then allegedly observed Selfridge leave through a side door wearing a wig and a hat. Selfridge allegedly attempted to run from marshals; however, he was quickly apprehended.
During the arrest, a 12-gauge shotgun was allegedly recovered from the room that Selfridge had been staying in with two other individuals. Selfridge was then turned over to deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s office.
Shaw thanked the U.S. Marshals Service and the Clearfield County Sheriff’s office for their assistance with this case. Shaw further noted that the U.S. Marshals Service is extremely helpful in these types of cases.
