STATE COLLEGE – A roadway improvement project along Atherton Street (Route 3014) in State College will feature night-time work starting Sunday, July 19, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Night-time work hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with the initial work zone at the Martin Street intersection. Motorists are to use Aaron Drive to access businesses on Martin Street.
Night-time work hours will continue through Aug. 7 in order to complete work at the Martin Street intersection and to finish drainage work and roadway patching between North Atherton Place and Aaron Drive.
All work is weather and schedule dependent. Traffic volumes through this area can be heavy and drivers may experience travel delays. Lane restrictions may also be in place. Drivers should be alert for equipment entering and exiting the work zones and should follow directions from flagging personnel.
Project work this year includes utility relocation, drainage upgrades, roadway reconstruction, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items. Once work is complete, travel along this section of Atherton Street should be smoother and more efficient.
Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $4.4 million project. PennDOT reminds motorists to drive with caution through work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
