Emma E. Geisel, 90, of Philipsburg died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg.
Born Dec. 19, 1924 in Johnstown, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Rowland and Martha Gertrude (Irwin) Rowland Shingler.
Mrs. Geisel was a 1941 graduate of Johnstown High School and had worked for Dr. Pat Gianopoulos. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, where she was a member of the church choir. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star and a volunteer chaplain at the former Philipsburg Hospital.
She was a Den Mother when her son was younger, a former member of Valley Voices and a volunteer for the blood mobiles.
On April 12, 1943 in Johnstown, she married Richard Thomas “Dick” Geisel. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2005.
Mrs. Geisel is survived by a daughter, Shirley Jacobson and her husband, Joel of Northampton; a son, Wayne T. Geisel of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren, Tracy Jacobson and Emily Hankel; three great-grandchildren, twins Luke and Tyler Jacobson and John Michael Hankel III; and a sister, Anna Lois Brumbaugh of West Mont (Johnstown).
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A graveside service and burial will be held at Richland Cemetery, 1257 Scalp Ave., Johnstown, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg.
