Joyce M. Berry, 66, of Clearfield died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Berry was born Oct. 13, 1948 in Mahaffey, the daughter of Joseph O. and Lillian (Marshall) Bennett.
She had worked for D.W. Hummel & Sons, The Budget Plan Consumer Discount Company, Security Pacific, Casteel Chiropractic of Clearfield and Experience Works.
Mrs. Berry was affiliated with the Glad Tidings Assembly of God of Clearfield. She was a Sunday school teacher and repaired and cleaned robes for Bible school. She also prepared meals for the church.
She was an avid reader with the Bible being her favorite book. She was a prayer warrior, along with her friend, Audrey, for our country, family and friends.
One of her favorite past times was reading The Progress and clipping articles and mailing them in special cards to the person in the article.
She was an aunt and friend that never missed mailing cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions, such as Veterans Day. She would always have words and prayers of encouragement to her many friends, such as Esther, Karen, Judy, Ginger, Donna, Janet, Rickey, Cindy, Carrol, Gloria, Pauline and many more. She will be so missed by all of us who loved her and valued her friendship.
She is survived by a sister, Judith Rodgers and her husband, William of Punxsutawney and two sisters-in-law, Esther Bennett of Glen Campbell and Karen Harnish and her husband, Bub of Curwensville.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Janet Spaid, Ron Spaid, Larry Spaid, Kathy Ullery, Richard A. “Ricky” Bennett, Cindy Mauk and her husband, Charlie, Dennis M. Bennett and his wife, Dana, Dustin A. Bennett and his wife, Summer, Kimberly E. Taranto and her husband, Willie, Amber Harnish, Matt Harnish and Mark Harnish and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore A. Berry. He died Aug. 30, 2007.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Spaid Queen, Erma Ullery and Esther S. Bennett; two brothers, Denny O. Bennett and Dallas Miller; a niece, Peggy Rodgers Bailey; and nephew, Robert Spaid.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with the Rev. Stephen DeSantis officiating.
Burial will be in Fruit Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
