Andrew J. Swansegar Jr., 81, of Morrisdale (Pardee) died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the DuBois Penn Highlands Hospital.
Born May 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Andrew Sr. and Anna Baronak Swansegar.
He was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Hawk Run, where he was a former usher.
Mr. Swansegar was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served in the 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Third Battalion. Mr. Swansegar loved camping, hunting and fishing.
He was married to Helen D. Koleno Swansegar on Sept. 4, 1971 at the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Clarence. She survives in (Pardee) Morrisdale.
He is also survived by two sisters, Lucille Serafini of St. Marys and Barbara Larson and her husband, Allen of Blythe, Ga., three brothers, Robert Swansegar and Rudy Swansegar and his wife, Sandy, both of Philipsburg, and Roy Swansegar and his wife, Beverly of Louisville, Ky., and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Swansegar was preceded in death by a sister, Sally McClusik and a brother, Vincent Swansegar.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Hawk Run, with the Father Robert J. Horgas as celebrant.
Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hawk Run.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
Military honors will be accorded graveside by members of the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
