AUSTIN – Officials at the Sinnemahoning State Park have announced the following programs for the weekend of May 30-31.
Saturday, May 30
Eagle Watch
1 p.m. – 3 p.m., Wildlife Viewing Area
The young eaglets are getting bigger every day! View live nest activity through binoculars and high-powered scope with the help of park staff and volunteers. Meet at the Wildlife Viewing Area; it is one-mile north of the Park Office & Wildlife Center. This free, family-friendly program is open to all ages and abilities. Wildlife Viewing Area’s platform is ADA accessible.
Dangerous Encounters
8 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.
Campground Amphitheater
What would you do if you encountered a bear while camping? Learn how to camp safely in bear country and avoid other dangerous encounters in the wild. This short campground program will be followed by a one-hour video.
Get Outdoors Loaner Program
7 days a week, May through October
8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Park Office & Wildlife Center
Explore Sinnemahoning State Park with the Get Outdoors Loaner program. The staff members provide the equipment. You create the fun! Again this season, Sinnemahoning State Park is pleased to offer kayaks, canoes and bicycles for visitors to use while enjoying the park. Life vests, paddles and helmets are provided.
There is no fee for the loaner program, but donations are requested. A photo ID and a valid credit card are required. At least one member of the party must be 18 years or older to sign out equipment.
Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis, from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with two-and-a-half hour time limit per use. All equipment is for in-park use only.
