Harold E. “Ted” Holt, 85, of Clearfield died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Ridgeview Elder Care.
He was born July 6, 1929 in Karthaus, the son of the late James E. and Nancy (Fye) Holt.
Mr. Holt was a coal miner. He worked at Howe’s Leather Co. in Curwensville. He was also a dozer operator on the strip mines at JC Owens until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of the Living Hope Apostolic Church in Clearfield. He was a member of the Curwensville Moose Lodge and Susquehanna Community Grange No. 268.
Mr. Holt enjoyed growing tomatoes, bird watching, cutting wood, dozer work and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
His survivors include a wife of 66 years, Stella Holt, to whom he was married on Jan. 3, 1949 and his children, Gerald (Linda) Holt of Eldersburg, Md., Linda Green and her companion, Jim of Munson; Teddy James (JoAnn) Holt of Grampian; and Gary Holt and companion Dale, William Holt and Timothy (Dawn) Holt, all of Clearfield; and a step-son, David Kramer of Glen Richey.
His survivors include 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Totin of New Jersey, Lora Holt of Guam, Rebecca Greene, Robert Greene and Richard Greene, all of Munson, T.J. Holt and his wife, Jennifer of Grampian, B.J. Luzier and her husband, Randy, Christy Brown and her husband, Travis and Sheila Smith and her husband, Rob, all of Olanta and Timothy Holt Jr. and Miranda Maines of Washington.
His survivors also include 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta Vincent of Lockport, NY; his brothers, Glenn Kenneth Holt and Lester Holt of Clearfield; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Gerald Thomas Holt, Robert Holt, Ethel Evans, June Selner, Violet Eadie, Beryl Wisor, Jane Clark; and infants, Billy, Eva and Baby Holt.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Tom Holt officiating.
Friends and family are invited to the funeral home from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 12 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday.
Burial will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery.
