STATE COLLEGE – A roadway improvement project along Atherton Street (Route 3014) in State College is continuing, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has an update for work taking place May 11-15.
Work next week will include:
- Gas line relocation
- Water line relocation
- Pipe liner installation
- Painting of traffic control lines.
The painting work is scheduled to be done in conjunction with Penn State’s break before the start of the summer session. This schedule should minimize traffic, bicycle, and pedestrian impacts.
All work is weather and schedule dependent. Traffic volumes through this area are heavy and drivers should anticipate travel delays. No work will be done May 22-26 due to the Memorial Holiday weekend.
Work this year will include utility relocation, drainage upgrades, roadway reconstruction, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items. Once work is complete, travel along this section of Atherton Street should be smoother and more efficient.
Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $4.4 million project. PennDOT reminds motorists to drive with caution through work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
