One of the biggest hits of the new season has its first finale as part of six shows to watch this week.
1. “Gotham,” Monday 8 p.m. ET, Fox
The multiple plot threads woven throughout this season will hopefully come together in the season finale this week.
The Batman prequel has been a ratings winner since premiering back in the fall, and Robin Lord Taylor’s Penguin has been a scene-stealer throughout. The Penguin may face a final battle with Fish Mooney as well as James Gordon.
And what is going on behind Bruce Wayne’s father’s secret passageway?
Hopefully A lot of answers are coming on the finale.
2. “Big Bang Theory,” Thursday 8 p.m., CBS
Even though its ending its eighth season on the air (with at least two more to come), “The Big Bang Theory” feels as fresh as ever.
As one might expect, relationship dilemmas dominate this finale, with Leonard and Penny forced (by Sheldon) to choose a wedding date.
But what about Sheldon and Amy’s long-simmering relationship? Maybe we’ll see where things are headed.
3. “New Girl,” Tuesday 9 p.m., Fox
Coach, we’ll miss you.
Damon Wayans, Jr. is moving on from “New Girl,” and the show won’t be the same.
See how he bids farewell in the season finale.
4. “Secrets and Lies,” Sunday 9 p.m., ABC
This ABC series may or may not return but it’s certainly built up a lot of intrigue in its short first season. There are sure to be shocks along the way – and a murderer revealed – in the season finale of the drama, which stars Ryan Phillipe.
5. “The Last Man on Earth,” Sunday 9:30, Fox
The oddball show became a somewhat unlikely hit for Fox in the past few months.
We’ll see what awaits Will Forte’s character in the post-apocalyptic comedy’s season finale.
6. “Saturday Night Live,” Saturday, May 9, 11:29 p.m., NBC
Reese Witherspoon hasn’t hosted “SNL” in 14 years, so it will be interesting to see her return.
The show’s musical guests should be worth watching too: Florence + the Machine.
