Elizabeth M. “Betty” Hoover, 85, of DuBois died peacefully Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the DuBois Nursing home.
She was born July 1, 1929 in Curwensville, the daughter of Joseph George and Mary Ann (Mokerish) Lash. She was protestant by faith.
She was a housewife. She was also a secretary for her husband’s chiropractic practice.
She was a wonderful mom and grandmother, “Nan,” with a great sense of humor. She will be very sadly missed by all. She enjoyed watching the Steelers, fishing, crocheting and word puzzle books.
She is survived by four sons and a daughter, Dr. William Hoover and his wife, Barbara of Luthersburg, Dr. Mark Hoover and his wife, Teddy of Penfield, Dr. Gary Hoover and his wife, Carla of Hyde, Drs. Randy
Hoover and his wife, Ann of Punxsutawney and Linda VanCuren and her husband, Ed of DuBois.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Cindy, Dr. Bill, Mike and John Hoover, Mark, Katie Hoover, Gary Jr., David and Emily Hoover, Cody and Austin Hoover, Beth, Andy and Miranda VanCuren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Fred Hoover Jr. to whom she was married Oct. 31, 1953 and whom died March 29, 2012; five brothers, Mike, Edward, Joseph, John and Steve Lash; and four sisters, Mary Levisky, Ann Peserchick, Margaret Majerski and Katherine Lash.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mohney Yargar Funeral Chapel Inc. with Pastor Kevin Bockus officiating. Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. Monday until the hour of services at the funeral home.
