Persistent rain began slowly making its way into the Richmond area during the later hours of Saturday morning. Things began looking bleak as there was little sunshine in the skies overhead. Â Even a small break in the middle part of the day didn’t brighten spirits.
By mid-afternoon, the skies began opening up a little more, and the rain at the Richmond International Raceway began coming down. Â It may not have been a storm in the heartland, but at the same time it was enough where the mood at Richmond was rather somber, as the gloomy skies stuck around.
The weather was enough for NASCAR to make the move to postpone the Toyota Owners 400 to Sunday afternoon, as rain would be forecast through the night and into the morning hours. Â Even with the AIR TITAN drying system in place, it would be too late for the race to run and be completed at a reasonable hour.
The race at Richmond will be run Sunday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. on FOX.
