John E. “Jack” Thomas, 86, of Morrisdale died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at his residence. Born Oct. 29, 1928 in Coalport, he was the son of the late James A. and Pearl Drass Thomas.
Mr. Thomas lived with his son, James; daughter-in-law, Karen; and grandson, Tyler.
He loved to work on cars, especially antique cars. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed working on puzzles.
He was married to Ethel Killion Thomas in December of 1952 at St. Basil’s Roman Catholic Church, Coalport. She preceded him in death on June 11, 1988.
Mr. Thomas is survived by three daughters, Cathy Thomas of Clearfield, Karen Williams and her husband, Phillip of Morrisdale and Rebecca Raling and her husband, Mike of Smithmill and three sons, Tim Thomas and his wife, Sheila of Houtzdale and Jim Thomas and his wife, Karen and Robb Thomas and his wife, Nicole, both of Morrisdale.
He is also survived by one sister, Winifred Turchick of Dataw Island, SC and his grandchildren, Phillip, Brandalee, Kelly, Tyler, Zachery, Matthew, Jessica and Nathan.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Wheeling and two brothers, Donald and Richard Thomas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Philipsburg, with the Father John Gibbons as celebrant. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Morrisdale.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale.
