Centralia, OR (KPTV) — A man used bear spray on a pizza delivery driver in what deputies believe was a failed robbery attempt, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim told deputies he received a call from a man named “Anthony Kramer” who ordered a pizza to be delivered on the 100 block of Gleason Road.
When the 44-year-old driver for Sahara Pizza arrived, the suspect stepped onto the roadway. The driver slowed to talk to the man while checking on the address when the suspect said, “Sorry, I have to do this,” according to deputies.
He then sprayed the driver in the face with Frontiersman bear attack deterrent spray. Deputies said the driver knocked the can out of the suspect’s hand, causing the suspect to run away toward Seminary Hill Road.
The delivery driver then began chasing the suspect in his car. The suspect ran toward an older, small blue car and got in.
The victim told deputies he couldn’t tell if anyone else was in the car. He said he last saw the suspect vehicle going the wrong way on Sprague Street, which is a one-way road.
The victim drove to the Centralia Police Department to report the incident. He did not require medical treatment, according to deputies.
