CURWENSVILLE — An outstanding senior season earned Ciara Strickland, Curwensville Area High School’s all-time leading scorer, berths on the Moshannon Valley League and Allegheny Mountain League girls basketball all-star teams for the second year in a row.
The senior guard poured in 526 points for a 21.9 average that was tops in District 9 and increased her four-year career total to 1,525 in 93 games.
She was a double-figure pointmaker in 23 of the Moshannon Valley League champion and District 9 Class AA semi-finalist Lady Tide’s 24 games. She netted at least 20 in 14 games, including a career-high 39 in the season opener against Moshannon Valley when she became the third 1,000-point scorer in the history of the Curwensville girls program.
Strickland made 58 three-pointers, padding her school record to 118, and was a 75 percent foul shooter, sinking 76 of 102 free throws.
Strickland also led the Lady Tide in steals with 86 and was second in rebounds with 134 (5.7 average) and assists with 84.
She closed her career with 401 rebounds and more than 250 assists.
West Branch junior Jalee Rockey, Moshannon Valley junior Hannah Kitko, Glendale senior Shannon Ricketts and Harmony sophomore Tarra Hauser are the other Moshannon Valley League All-Stars.
MVL coaches also had Kitko on their 2013-14 all-star team.
Strickland was the leading vote-getter for the Allegheny Mountain League All-Star Team that features three seniors who led Elk County Catholic to the championship.
Julia Sweeney, Macy Neureiter and Erin Petrosky all are repeaters, as are senior Julie Esposito of Brockway and senior Taylor Morgan of Kane.
Rounding out the list are DuBois Central Catholic sophomore Riley Assalone, Ridgway junior Jessica Kifer, Johnsonburg sophomore Nicole Myers and Kane freshman Trinity Clark.

Elk County Catholic defeated DuBois Central Catholic 49-30 in AML championship game.
