TYRONE — Junior guard Emily Ryan of Clearfield was accorded honorable mention on the 2014-15 Mountain Girls Basketball League All-Star Team announced at the annual winter sports banquet in the Tyrone Area High School Monday night.
The 5-7 playmaker, also a honorable mention selection last year, led the Lady Bison in both points with 205 and assists with 97 in 22 games.
She scored a career-high 19 points in the 49-47 double-overtime win over Bellefonte on Dec. 16 and hit double figures 10 other games.
Her 9.3 scoring average was second to Rachel Glenny’s 9.5 for the Lady Bison, who finished 3-11 in the league.
Ryan was credited with 62 rebounds.
Sophomore Kasey Engle of the championship Tyrone team was named Most Valuable Player. She was a first-team selection last year.
Philipsburg-Osceola senior Abby Showers, Huntingdon senior Bri Rivello and Central senior Mikaela McGraw are repeaters on the first team. Showers was a second teamer and Rivello an honorable mention as sophomores.
Joining that trio on the first unit are juniors Finnley Christine of Tyrone and Jess Book of Bellefonte. Both were on last season’s second team.
Chosen by the coaches for the second team were junior Haylee Hayward of Philipsburg-Osceola, sophomore Hannah Johnston of Central and sophomore Maci Ilgen, junior Mackenzie Ironside and junior Karli Ripka of Penns Valley.
Ripka also was a second teamer last season, while Hayward and Ironside were on the honorable mention list.
Receiving honorable mention along with Ryan were Penns Valley senior Bethany Miller, Central senior Marissa Snyder and Tyrone sophomore Alexis Cannistraci.
