Ernest W. Kline, 94, of Houtzdale died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Excela Frick Hospital in Mount Pleasant.
Born Aug. 21, 1920 in Clearfield, he was the son of A.I. and Ruth (Barnett) Kline.
Mr. Kline served with the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.
He was a member of the Sanborn Church of God and the Sanborn Grange. He held the Silver Beaver Award with the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Kline was employed as a carpenter and retired from Carnes Brothers.
He was married to Mildred (Phillips) Kline, whom preceded him in death on July 15, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, Wesley Kline and his wife, Shirley of Bridgeton, NJ and Lee Kline and his wife, Susan of Alverton; two grandchildren, Christopher Kline and his wife, Paichat of Mount Pleasant and Bryan Kline and his wife, Jennifer of Jeannette; two step-grandchildren, Kim Kline and his wife, Julie of Rochester, NY and Darla Kline of Bergen, NY; and a great-grandson, Mathis Kline.
Also surviving are four brothers, Clifford Kline and his wife, Ruth of York, Thomas and Emery Kline, both of Dubois, and Ashley Kline and his wife, Bonnie of Philipsburg and two sisters, Hilda Shively of Dubois and Idabelle Kirkwood and her husband, William of Jersey Shore.
Mr. Kline was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers, Emerson and Norman Kline.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating.
Family and friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin, with military honors accorded by the Houtzdale American Legion Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Bucktail Council, Boy Scouts of America, 209 First St., Dubois, PA 15801.
